. 11800 Answers SOURCE: I'm assuming that you have checked the water inlet at the bottom and steam spout for lime or other deposits that can clog them - and cleaned them if necessary. The steam is generated by the boiling of a small amount of water then the pumping of an additional amount of water in the steam spout. In your case the valve that controls the steam is defective. There are no replacement parts for this unit - it's a service-free device: if something breaks inside it you just junk it and get a new one.

If you want to try to fix it you will have to crack open the casing of the boiler (glued in there) access and replace the valve and glue it back together. It's a long and fiddly job for which you will need the spare parts recovered from another defective unit. Posted on Jul 01, 2011.

I'm so happy with how well this works. I decided on this model because it claims to be hotter than others and that was important to me. Construction seems rugged and I've used it for a couple of years without any problems. One of the best uses for this has been for cleaning windows. The steam helps get rid of grease, grime, fingerprints, dust etc off the window frames and they look like new. The included squeegee attachment works well but since I'm limited by how much steam this small unit can produce I don't use it frequently.

Instead I clean the window frames, stool, etc, with the steamer, wipe down with a micro fiber cloth and then wash the windows using a sponge and traditional squeegee. I saw someone mention the squeegee on the steamer leaves streaks. Just like with regular squeegee you need to dry off the squeegee between swipes to avoid streaks. It does a very good job cleaning the grout in my kitchen floor but it was very slow. I found it quicker and easier to just use oxi clean for grout. Cleans grime off walls. There's one area near my stairs that gets dirty frequently from people putting their hands on the wall.

The steam cleaner with the microfiber sock took care of it quickly. I had tried using a Magic Eraser on similar areas in the past but while it did clean the area it wound up affecting the sheen of the paint. The Monster Steam cleaner didn't have that problem. Removes grease from in and around oven.

My oven has never been so clean! The hot steam melts away grease from the oven without any harmful cleaners. The steamer removed grease stains that I had never been able to get out because they were in an area that was hard to scrub. Great in the bathroom too. The steam helps to clean and sanitize everything in the bathroom.

Does great on upholstery too! I used the steamer with upholstery attachment and microfiber cover to clean a microfiber sofa that was taken out of storage. At first I used an upholstery cleaner spray to get started.

After that I used the steamer to finish up. I thought I had removed most of the dirt with the upholstery cleaner as the sofa looked very clean but when I used the steamer I was surprised at how dirty the microfiber covers were. I went through all the covers and then switched to microfiber rags.

In the end the upholstery looked like new and the steam got out some major wrinkles. One thing you'll want to have is a few microfiber cleaning cloths. They help pick up dirt better than regular rags. The covers that come with the steamer are small and fill up with dirt quickly.

I usually steam what I'm trying to clean and immediately wipe it with the microfiber cloth to pick up the loosed dirt. I don't know why no one else has mentioned it but I have bought 3 of these, two for myself and one as a gift. All have had the same problem of leaking out the orange container on the bottom that contains the cleaning solution. After you put the solution in the container, you attach the fill hole by lining up two tabs and turning it to lock.

The bottom of the plug has a flat O ring. After a couple of uses the container starts to leak past the O ring and you have dripping solution constantly. I just leave it dry and it is a decent steamer but was more powerful with the cleaning solution-a harder and fuller spray. Thanks to the reviewer who suggested filling the container with water. This also improves the power and at least the drips are just water.

Too bad since it is a good idea and you could probably use your own solution like Lysol if it is the same density as the cleaning solution but the drips make that a poor idea. Maybe they have fixed it by now, I bought mine over a year ago. Or maybe another manufacturer will use the same idea. The trick Monster uses is the cleaning solution is injected after the steam comes out of the boiler since you would not want anything but water in the boiler. I'm so happy with how well this works. I just got this from amazon yesterday, and I used it with Kitchen Range Hood, cooktops electric, and bathroom. Here is my review: Overall I think it is good product if the place you want to clean is not very dirty, and it works better with ceramic than metal/plastic. I have worked on three different location, different difficulty: 1. Kitchen Range Hood (very very hard to clean) I had tried 409 and all difference kinds of chemical products, but nothing works, so I tried this. It is OK, it first melted the oil on the fans so I can just the scraper to get rid of it, and then I repeated use this steamer to peer off the oils one layer at a time (don't expect it to work like the ads, it won't do it at once).

The whole process took me around an hour. The steam is very hot, but it just not working as good as the ads described, so that's why I said it is not working as what I thought. Also, this steamer holds very little amount of water. I can only steam 5 minutes max, and then need to cool it down (another 3 - 5 minutes, then add more water, wait 3 - 5 minutes, then steam again This is the major problem of this steamer, if it can hold more waters, then I will give it 4 stars, instead of 3.

So if you planning to clean anything that is plastic, and contains oil on it, don't expect it works perfect, it can help, but just not as good as you think. So after an hour of work with this steamer on this range hood, I think I cleaned 95% of the oil on this stuff, and I am getting tire on it. So I just leave the 5% there and wait for next time. I think I need another hour for the 5% left, because it is so hard to get it out, and the steamer couldn't help anymore. Need to find another chemical product.

Cooktop (medium dirty) This one worked very well (with 409), it took me 10-15 minutes to finish it, works very well! Because it is metal, so it works better with steamer. However, I needed to apply 409 to get it more effective, with the steamer itself, it doesn't help much. Bathroom (not very dirty) I used the steamer on the bathroom, just to clean those tough spot on the ceramic and metal parts. It works well on ceramic, but not very well on plastic and metal.

So, if you planning on using this on ceramic, then I would recommend it, for others, I would say it helps, but not much. For less than 40 dollars, it would be worth a try if you have tried everything else. (This steamer only helps on melting the dirtiness, not to remove it.).
